The property is located on a hilltop, on the sea side of the hill, surrounded by an hectare of typical mediterranean plants, such as live-oak, cork-tree, berry, rosemary, fruit-trees, and a olive grove, with an astonishing sea view.

Wonderful holiday Although this Trip Advisor page currently refers only to the Cottage my review relates to the Cottage and the larger Villa that, together comprise il Borgo Al Mare. Eleven of us stayed in the Villa and the Cottage in a hot week in August and enjoyed it enormously. Of course having the family all together for once, children and grandchildren, was a real treat but to do it in a place like this doubled the treat. In some ways it felt just like home ...but bigger and better...with a wonderful sea-view and Mediterranean climate. The houses and gardens exceeded our expectations: at the time we booked our holiday at least, the on-line photos didn't do justice to them...Blasco, the owner confessed that he likes to see the looks of surprise on the faces of new arrivals ! Set high on the hillside with uninterrupted views of La Feniglia beach to the right, Cala Galeria harbour in Porto Ercole to the left... and the sea filling the horizon in-between, the Villa and the Cottage joined by a path of a 100 yards or so, were both well furnished and extremely comfortable. For example: all of the bedrooms had double- (and often twinnable) beds with each bedroom having en suite or adjacent bathrooms; well-equipped kitchens and spacious and shaded open-air dining areas; the Cottage had full air-conditioning and the Villa had a generous allocation of large fans...though the old stone walls helped to keep it surprisingly cool. The Internet provision worked well in both houses as did the DVD player and large flat-screen TV so indoor comfort was complete. The grounds and gardens were another pleasure: nothing too formal but very well looked after, extending up the hillside behind the houses. The wild-life (small lizards and an occasional squirrel, continual birdsong and chirping crickets) was an another positive addition. The pool (newly improved as we arrived) was a magnet for everyone and the children simply loved it. Blasco and his small "team" were friendly and welcoming and were on hand when needed...and splendidly unobtrusive, considering that they lived in two additional cottages within the grounds. Everything was scrupulously clean and well-maintained. We're planning to return next year...and hoping we can squeeze in a couple more of the family group to share the experience ! Eric Lever

Thank you for this lovely review. More than anything we are delighted that you enjoyed your 3 generational stay, and that you appreciated the perfect setting of this little paradise. Of course, the best compliment is that you have already booked your return for next year. Maybe the beginning of a tradition!
